G’day, and welcome!
My name’s Laura Hardaker, I’m from Australia, and I’ve just done the thing I’ve been talking about doing for years — started a blog. Not just any blog, though. This one’s dedicated to something I’ve loved for as long as I can remember: sport, in all its chaotic, brilliant forms.
I’m not here to just cover one code. If you’re after tennis, you’ll get tennis. Football (or soccer, for our American friends)? Covered. Formula 1, cricket, rugby, golf, basketball, the Olympics, the weird and wonderful stuff in between — it’s all fair game here. If it involves a ball, a track, a court, or a scoreboard, chances are I’ll have something to say about it.
Why Now?
Honestly, there has never been a better time to start a sports blog. 2026 is shaping up to be an absolute monster of a year for fans. We’ve got Wimbledon wrapping up its final rounds as I write this, the World Cup just wrapping up, and the Formula 1 mid-season with the title race wide open. And that’s before we even get to what’s still coming: the US Open, the Ashes, a T20 Cricket World Cup, the Rugby League World Cup right here on home soil, the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and more.
There is simply too much good sport happening for it to go undiscussed. So that’s what this blog is for.
What You Can Expect
A few things you’ll find here regularly:
- Match and event breakdowns — what happened, why it mattered, and what it means going forward
- Previews for the big events on the horizon, so you know exactly what to watch for and when
- An Aussie perspective — including how and when to actually watch these events if you’re tuning in from Down Under
- A bit of everything — I’m not precious about sticking to one sport. If it’s exciting, it’s getting written about
Why I Care About This
I’ve always found sport to be one of the few things that genuinely brings people together — whether that’s screaming at the TV during a nail-biting Grand Slam final, or getting far too invested in a World Cup group stage match between two countries you’d never normally follow. There’s drama, heartbreak, redemption, and the occasional shock that nobody saw coming. I want to capture all of that here, and hopefully make you feel like you’re following along with a mate who’s just as invested as you are.
